ABOUT
Frank-Michael Böer (Born 1964)
After studying Political Science at the LMU Munich, I organized international personnel development programs for the best high potentials of a Munich-based DAX Group for several years on three continents. Since 2005 I have developed the FINEST SPIRITS Festival into one of the most important European whisky and spirits festivals from small start-up beginnings and in 2013 received the "Keeper of the Quaich“ award, the highest honor of the Scottish whisky industry. In 2012 a sister event followed; Braukunst Live! was the first big international beer specialty and craft beer festival in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In the first months of 2019 we sold our company and house, dissolved our German life, packed our four dogs and three motorcycles to start an all new chapter together in Canada.
Uta Böer (Born 1972)
After completing my business studies at the LMU Munich, I worked for almost 15 years as a senior controller at a leading teleshopping company near Munich. In the founding years 2005 to 2014, as an "involuntary second job", I built and managed accounting and finance at Frank's company. That's why I know what it means to build a start-up and, at the same time, exist in the increasingly insane working environment of a modern, established company.
In Canada, it is important to us to be successful again in a new environment. Although the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, we are looking forward to a simpler life in the forests of Canada that brings us closer to the essential questions and answers that life poses. As city people, this is a risk and also a huge adventure with an open end. That’s what we’re looking forward to for ourselves and the opportunity to share it with others.
Together...
We are creating a place for people like us at Burns Lodge, people who successfully manage their lives, and at times feel the pull to take time to slow down and readjust. Think of it as a rejuvenation that allows you to keep performing at your best, be healthy and live happily. The unique tranquility, beauty, expanse and nature on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, is the perfect place for this.

We look forward to sharing this experience with you beginning in the summer of 2020.
